Volunteer Opportunities
Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization.
There are no paid positions and we rely on our dedicated volunteers to
make all the programs work – and to save lives. Below is a list of some
of the opportunities that are available at Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue,
Inc. (CSDR).
-
Foster Parent:
Bring homeless dogs into your home and care for them until we can
find our furry friend his/her forever home. You are responsible for
the usual duties – feeding, grooming, and exercise, as well as for
bringing the foster dog to vet appointments and to our adoption
events and participating in the adoption screening process.
Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc. pays for all of the dog’s medical
costs and can provide any necessary supplies.
-
Foster Assistant:
Help foster parents transport dogs to and from vet appoints and help
with getting the foster dogs to our Meet & Greets. Most of our
foster parents are very busy with full-time work schedules and
family obligations, so they welcome this type of help.
-
Meet & Greet
Volunteer: Help to make sure that our Meet & Greet adoption events
run smoothly. Duties include handling dogs, walking the dogs, giving
out information about CSDR and answering questions that the public
may have. Helping with set up and take down of our booth and
materials.
-
Return Phone Calls:
Choose a day of the week, and we’ll e-mail you a list of phone calls
to return or make calls.
-
Home Visit
Volunteer: Each adopter, foster parent and Foster Assistant must
have a home visit by one of our volunteers. This position is an
important job as you will be going to an individual’s home to see if
they have a safe and loving home for our furry friends.
-
Committee Members -
Join one of our committees: Fundraising, Grant Writing, Marketing,
Public Relations, Volunteer, Events, or Research Committee and help
shape our programs and services! Various tasks are assigned through
each committee.
