Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been
especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they
can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and
sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old
are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are
made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams
of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except
for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them,
who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the
day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His
bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins
to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and
your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous
reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your
face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life
but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge
together....

We
have dedicated this page for our special little friends that have
had to take the trip over the rainbow. Here are their stories. We
will always miss them and their love that they gave us from the day
we rescued them.
Our dogs leave their foot prints across our hearts forever.

Gunner
Sweet little Gunner. We did not get a chance to
know him, he was only with us for 3 days. He was only 3 months old,
when we rescued him. He was looked at by a vet in another state who
said he was having grand maul seizures, gave him medication for the
transport. We took him in on a Sunday. He seemed fine and a happy
little boy, but was having a couple of very mild seizures that day.
We had meds long enough to get first available vet appointment which
was Tuesday morning. Gunner was diagnosed with a brain stem injury
that would never repair itself and that all that will happen at this
point would he would go down hill daily and that there was
absolutely no quality of life for him.
Even though we did not get to know Gunner, he is our special little
boy and we think of him all the time.

Betty Boop
What a very sweet little girl. Betty Boop was
rescued right after her owner threw her out a car window. She was
lucky she only received a scrape on her nose. She had several things
wrong with her. We treated her for each one. But, her little body
just couldn't take it any more.
Her personality was wonderful, she would play with the other dogs
that played gently. She did a little dance every time we would come
home and she was always glad to see us. She would stand at the back
door and bark this little bark to let you know she wanted to go
outside, she would not use the doggie door to go out, but she would
use it to come in. She was a very sweet and loving dog.

Maggie Mae
Tiny Maggie Mae what a sweet, shy girl who only wanted a safe and
warm place where she could be loved. Maggie came to us with a
herniated spline. She had major surgery to correct this, but her
heart just wasn't strong enough for the long recovery. She did
wonderfully for three weeks, we were starting to feel she was on her
way to recovery, but she just couldn't do it anymore. She fought a
very strong battle. She was the boss of her home and made sure
everyone knew it. Her crate was her safe zone and everyone knew not
to bother her when she was in it. Her playful growl and her warm
kisses are sure going to be missed.

Jessie James
When Jesse came to us
he claimed the toy basket in the corner for his bed. He seemed
to be content to lie in the basket surrounded by playthings, but
didn’t have the energy to play with them. He was only with us
for a week; wish we had more time to let him know he was in a
safe place and loved.
Jesse had a hard
life, and his heart just couldn’t take the strain…

Elly Mae
What a sweet little
girl. Elly Mae was one of our two very first rescues for
CSDR. She was a puppy mill dog. She came to us a
very scared little girl and would never leave the side of
Thumbalina. She was with us to a little over two years and
spent the time on a very soft pillow and blankets in the living
room making sure that no other little one would get near
Thumbalina. In the last six months, Elly Mae was finally
starting to show us her personality and oh what a love she was.
Elly Mae past away in her sleep. Elly thank you for coming
into our lives, you are surely missed.

Reese
was surrendered to CSDR when his first owner found that
she could not reliably give him his seizure medicine
twice a day. His transport/temp foster Mom fell in love
with him the first day they met. He was 10 months old
when it was discovered he had multiple heart problems.
He was a happy, curious, sweet boy and soon learned to
slow down when he got short of breath. He was very smart
and quickly took to life at his new home. He loved/put
up with his two older sisters, Wishes and Cocoa Puff. He
loved to sleep in the sun. He loved his sock monkey, and
he was his Mom's best friend. He lived each day to the
fullest, never wasting time to feel sorry for himself.
He met most of the people and dogs in CSDR at a Dog
Rally at the Arvada West Dog Park in Sept. of 2007. He
was 1 yr and 1 month old when his little heart finally
gave out and he went ahead to the Rainbow Bridge. He was
a ray of sunshine to everyone who met him, he was loved
by a large extended family and friends alike, and he
will never be forgotten. |
